All Star Promo drop

Sometimes we need to push the envelope in a direction that isn't what we're used to. I'm no marketer but I'm happy with my design that I did in Canva. Please find the details below!

Liminal Devices all star promo

At liminal devices, I try not to be too strict or uptight with how this progresses but I think I need a small retail display in a few locations to start the grassroots movements I want to see for this site and project.

This is my first foray into adverts, and I think it'll tailor to a very niche market but I think that's great. Some people won't get it and will maybe discuss it with others trying to figure it out. But the answers are all around you, and the answers to this ad is in this post. My partner is in graphic design and tells me designers must be precise and do everything with intention, so let's break down this image and see what intentions I laid behind the art.

In the image we see the website domain with some woman calling you an all star, bottom text reads "How do I know if I'm an all star? Your name fits within Unicode standard ISO/IEC 10646." and the long story short is this says everyone is an all star. You don't even need to buy a liminal device! You're an all star in your own world I'm sure.

The all star theme was inspired by the 90's smash hit All Star by Smash Mouth (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_jWHffIx5E) and while the lyrics don't have much meaning it's a catchy up beat sound with a surreal video to go along with it. Not my favourite band but at the same time I can't argue something that makes me want to sing along.

So to break this down further isn't too difficult, ISO stands for Internationl Organization for Standards and they create protocols and processes for many different industries. This was created in conjuction with IEC (International Elections Commission) in software and hardware development they make sure things meet spec so they work with one another, and one computer doesn't speak Greek while the other is speaking English (as was in the 90's for you fellow olds out there). 10646 is the standard number that allows for this to happen, whether you speak Russian, Chinese, French, emoji, it doesn't matter, they all work under this standard! This is the latest standard published in 2020 https://www.iso.org/standard/76835.html or if you don't want the technical details you can go to Wikipedia for a birds level overview https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Coded_Character_Set.

So it's super nerdy, and super dated. But that's me, if I'm going to do something it'll be for me and I understand I'm not so unique. When others see what there is out there beyond their cave, they can unlock choices they thought not available to them because their mind's eye cannot see.

That about sums it up, have a beautiful day!
